Mercadal is said to be one of the two officers responsible for shooting Clark after mistaking a phone for a gun in his grandmother’s backyard

Sacramento police claim both officers have received death threats in the months following the shooting
On Sunday, Black Lives Matters Sacramento crashed the wedding of Officer Terrence Mercadal, who is accused of being one of the two shooters of 22-year-old Stephon Clark.
Police have yet to confirm Mercadal as one of the shooters, although headlines from mainstream media such as, “The moment Black Lives Matter protesters crash the wedding of Sacramento cop who fatally shot unarmed Stephon Clark,” suggest Mercadal is indeed one of the officers responsible.
Mercadal was preparing for his wedding at a vineyard an hour outside of Sacramento when a group of protesters entered the room he and his groomsmen were inside on camera. After opening the door, a woman is heard saying, “Terrence, I’m just wondering if you started planning your wedding before you killed Stephon Clark? Or after? And how you been sleeping since March 18? And I know this is supposed to be the happiest day of your life,” at which point Mercadal begins getting up from his chair.
Mercadal sits back down and motions for one of his groomsmen to remove the protesters from the room. A groomsman is seen approaching the woman while saying, “Hey, can you get out of here please!” Once outside, a woman is heard shouting “You’re a murderer!” The video was uploaded to the Black Lives Matter Sacramento Facebook page on Monday.
Tanya Faison, founder of Black Lives Matter Sacramento told CBS the group discovered the wedding when they found Mercadal’s wedding website online. The site included venue information about the vineyard just outside of Sacramento. Sacramento police have claimed the two officers responsible for killing Clark have needed additional security since the shooting. The two officers have allegedly received death threats and are no longer working patrol.
The group chose to crash the wedding as a non-violent action to remind Mercadal and others that Clark’s loved ones are still hurting. While Mercadal is able to enjoy his vineyard wedding, Clark will never have that same opportunity.
