On Easter Sunday, the Facebook account belonging to “Stevie Steve” posted several live videos to his account. One of the videos showed Stevie shooting and killing 74-year-old Robert Godwin Sr.
Cleveland police, with help from the FBI, have been trying to track down the person behind the Facebook account who has been identified as Steve Stephens.
Stephens was a case worker at Beech Brook, a children’s mental health facility in Cleveland. In one video Stephens claims his job at Beech Brook is part of what caused his mental breakdown.
In several posts and videos, Stephens says a woman named Joy Lane is the primary cause of his breakdown. Stephens claims that Lane got him into gambling and he lost everything he had.
In the Facebook Live video of Sunday’s shooting, Stephens tells Godwin to say the name Joy Lane. The elderly man seems confused by Stephens’ request. Stephens then says, “She’s the reason this is about to, um, happen to you.”
Stephens then asks Goodwin how old he is as he pulls out a gun. Godwin tries to plea that he does not even know Joy Lane as Stephens points the gun and pulls the trigger.

In an earlier post, Stephens says that he lost everything he had at the Cleveland Jack Casino and the Erie Casino.
In a third video Stephens claims to have killed 13 people as he talks on the phone to an unidentified person. Facebook deleted Stephens’ Facebook account, but before the account was deleted, he claimed to have killed up to 15 people on Sunday. He claimed most of the bodies were in an abandoned building. At this time police are saying there are no other shooting victims connected to Stephens.
Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and Police Chief Calvin Williams have urged Stephens to turn himself in. City officials say that are not putting the city on lockdown at this time, but they are instructing people to be careful if they have to be out on the streets.
A photo has been released of Stephens car that is said to have temporary Ohio tags.
