Washington Rep. Matt Shea Defends His Manifesto “Biblical Basis for War”

Washington state Rep. Matt Shea admitted to passing out a four page manifesto titled “Biblical Basis for War”

  • The manifesto calls for the execution of men who support abortion and gay marriage

  • Shea defended the document on a Facebook LIVE video after it was leaked online

  • Currently Shea is running for his sixth re-election in Spokane

Washington state Representative Matt Shea has not only admitted that he wrote and distributed a four-page document titled the “Biblical Basis for War,” he took to Facebook LIVE to defend it.

The document has 14 sections that explain how a biblical war could and would unfold. Shea represents Spokane in the state’s House but is up for re-election in November’s election. Not exactly the best timing for his belief of executing men who support abortion or gay marriage to go public.

The strange document is an outline for biblical war, including when to “know its time to fight,” “facts of war,” “qualifications of a Warrior,” and “Rules of War.” The most eye-catching section is the Rules of War, which includes the call for males who go along with abortion or homosexuality to be executed.

If people yield to stopping abortions, same-sex marriage, idolatry or occultism, communism, and obey Biblical law they “must pay share of work or taxes.” If they do not yield, “kill all males,” the document states. Shea has even created different ranks for “warriors” in his Biblical war, from “Team Leaders” to “Battalion Commanders.”

Following an article in the Spokesman-Review on the manifesto, Shea did a video on Facebook LIVE and said, “First of all, it was a summary of a series of sermons on biblical war in the Old Testament as part of a larger discussion on the history of warfare.” Shea also claimed he has spoken of parts of the document in the past.

Shea spoke out about a recent article in Rolling Stone about him that paints him as a conspiracy theorist and an extremist. The article pointed out his seriously questionable connections and his battle against the New World Order. Shea seems to believe all of this is just “Marxists” and “Islamists” trying to defeat him.

Will Shea be re-elected in the coming week? Quite possibly. Despite a long record of having an extremist outlook, Shea has been re-elected five times. It is rare for Shea to catch any backlash from the things he says. Shea’s ex-wife claims he was abusive, and would not allow her to get out of bed before him. In 2012, Shea received a firearms charge after he pulled a gun during a road rage incident. That same year he won the election by 56%.

“What I hear from people is, ‘We don’t care about his character, he votes the way we want him to,’ ” Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich told Rolling Stone. Knezovich has stated that he turned Shea’s manifesto over to the FBI.
