Right-wing activist Laura Loomer waged a one-woman war against Twitter by handcuffing herself to the company’s New York headquarters for about two hours on Tuesday after having her account banned last week.
Loomer — who identifies as a Jewish conservative journalist — locked herself to one of the front doors with a yellow Star of David pinned on her jacket in representation of what European Jews were forced to wear during the Holocaust. When asked about the star, Loomer said her Twitter ban was equal to Nazi’s burning books during the Holocaust. The back of her jacket had the hashtag “#STOPTHEBIAS.”
The response to her protest may not have been what she was hoping for seeing that Twitter decided they would not press charges. Police informed Loomer she could stay as long as she wanted. Since she claimed to lose the key to her handcuffs, Police told her to let them know when she was finished and they would cut her free.
Police say Twitter isn’t pressing charges against Laura Loomer, so she can stay as long as she wants. The protest continues! If Laura wants to leave, the police say they’ll cut the handcuff whenever she wants.

Loomer stood chained to one door so people could still enter and exit the building through the other door. As Loomer stood her ground and screamed that freedom of speech is dead, online she was facing a substantial amount of ridicule. At ground zero, a woman livestreamed her protest while calling her a dumbass. The video was later uploaded to The TreeHouse News’ YouTube channel.
After a couple hours, Loomer requested for police to cut her free from the building, ending her war against Twitter for now. Loomer was banned from Twitter after attacking U.S. House representative-elect Ilhan Omar with Islamophobic epithets the day before Thanksgiving. Twitter considered the tweet to be a violation of their services.
Isn’t it ironic how the twitter moment used to celebrate “women, LGBTQ, and minorities” is a picture of Ilhan Omar? Ilhan is pro Sharia Ilhan is pro- FGM Under Sharia, homosexuals are oppressed & killed. Women are abused & forced to wear the hijab. Ilhan is anti Jewish.
This is not Loomer’s first losing battle with Twitter. In November of 2017, Loomer lost her shit after Twitter removed her blue checkmark. After facing outrage for giving blue checkmarks to white supremacists, Twitter changed the policy and began enforcing rules that could cause people to lose the verifying mark. While Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey was testifying in front of Congress, Loomer interrupted the hearing to demand her blue checkmark be returned.
Loomer’s account is one of many to be banned from Twitter or Facebook in the last couple of months. Before the midterm elections, Facebook banned hundreds of pages, many of which seemed to be chosen unfairly. Admins from banned Facebook pages also claimed their Twitter accounts were banned at the same time, making some believe the move by social media giants was nothing more than a suppression of freedom of speech. However, Facebook and Twitter are both still allowed to ban their users at will as they are still considered to be private companies, despite having a questionably close relationship with the government.
