Michael Gordon Hamill joined the Gainesville Police Department in October of 2016. After Hamill went viral, it was discovered he had made two anti-Semitic posts to his Facebook in 2013, and 2011.
Boy Scouts And Jews
On April 23, 2013, Hamill made a post that read, “who knew that reading jewish jokes before i go to bed would not only make me feel better about myself but also help me to sleep better as well. here is one for everybody “What’s the difference between boy scouts and Jews?” anybody know? well it is because “Boy scouts come back from their camps.”
The Hitler Way
Two years prior, on August 24, 2011, Hamill made another post that read, “so i find it funny that people will talk about how our government needs to do something about our economy and in reality its YOU who needs to stop taking advantage of our system and get a life and do something with your life. Gotta love reality when it hits you in the face. Stupid people annoy me. put them in an oven deal with them the Hitler way. haha.”
The Gainesville Police Department is now looking into a complaint against Hamill which is believed to be related to the Facebook posts, but is confidential until the investigation is completed.
A spokesperson for the GPD, Ben Tobias, stated that the department would not comment on the complaint until after the investigation is completed. The GPD has removed the picture of the “hot cops” from their Facebook page after learning of Hamill’s posts.
