In 2014, Bakersfield, California was ground zero for evil clowns.

Oddly enough, this is not the first time that creepy clowns have spooked a community. In 2014, Bakersfield, California, became ground zero for spotting evil clowns.

Residents believed it to be the work of several people, due to props and outfits constantly changing. At one point, police did receive a call that there was a clown with a gun. Police responded, but were not able to find a clown in the area.

In all, police say they do not believe that the clowns are involved in any criminal behavior. They are just really creepy.

Evil clowns were soon spotted around the nation.

In the days following the evil clown outbreak in Bakersfield, reports began coming in from around the nation.

Sgt. Tom Weger of the Fishers Police Department in Indiana believed they were dealing with a copycat of the Bakersfield clowns. Weger believed it was just one person dressing in a creepy clown costume and freaking people out, but like Bakersfield, the clown was not breaking any laws.

Albuquerque, New Mexico residents, were spooked after an evil clown was caught on camera outside of a restaurant. The picture of the clown made it to social media, adding to the residents fear. The clown, who called himself ‘Tickles,’ later reached out to a local media station to explain that he meant no harm.

Security camera shows creepy video of two clowns in Florida.

In Jacksonville, Florida evil clowns were caught on two different security cameras. In one of the videos, a larger clown walks onto a resident’s porch. He then picks up a pumpkin and rips it to shreds while staring at their security camera.

In the other video, a different clown enters through a resident’s gate. He then walks up to the porch, where he stands at the bottom of the steps before leaving.

The trend that earned the name “clowning” has irritated those in the clown community. They claim that these evil clowns are bringing a bad name to all the hard working real clowns, who want to give a happy image of clowns. Not an evil image.
