  • At the end of the video Epperson opens the door to call Antuan Clark a “fucking nigger”

  • Epperson has been fired from the store and claims the incident was a “slip-up”

In a stunning act of doubling down on an act of racism, April Epperson claimed that she would have even called a Mexican a nigger. Epperson went viral over the past few days after getting into a heated argument with a new employee and her brother, which ended with her pushing both out of a Subway store in Birmingham, Alabama, then opening the door to call the brother a “fucking nigger”.

In a statement to WBRC, Epperson said the word slipped and that she felt threatened at the time. Epperson claims the employee’s brother, Antuan Clark, threatened her and punched her in the face. The now viral video shows Epperson charging at Clark several times while swinging at him and even taking his phone at one point.

Epperson was said to have apologized several times to WBRC and claimed to have African-American family members. The former manager of the Subway store said she could handle the backlash from her screw up, but could not handle being called a racist on national television over what she describes as a “slip-up”.

I said the wrong word. I’m sorry for it. I am taking my punishment and I’m walking away from it. I get that I screwed up. I’m a big girl. I can handle it. But I can’t handle being called racist on national television over a slip-up.

Epperson decided to double down on the viral racial slur when she went into more detail on what happened leading up to the video. In a wtf moment, Epperson actually stated that she would have said the same thing to a Mexican in her defense; because obviously calling another minority a racial slur shows there was no ill intent.

He punched me in my face. I pushed him out the door because that was the only thing I knew to do. I felt like I was in danger. I pushed him out the door. He punches me in my face and as soon as I shut the door, the only thing that came out of my mouth was, ‘nigger,’ and I’m sorry. It could have been a Mexican standing there. It popped out of my mouth that’s what that Mexican would have got called. That white person would have got called that too.

Epperson also seems to forget that she opened the door to yell the slur at Clark after they were outside of the store. She has been fired since the video went viral. Subway said in a statement the actions of Epperson does not represent the core values of the company’s core value to respect everyone.
