Rumors spread that an 11-year-old girl was shot and killed by police
A man in a Youtube video claims that an 11-year-old girl was killed by a police sniper in North Dakota
As of now, there have been no reports of a human killed during clashes between water protectors and police
Locals have confirmed that at least one horse has been put down from injuries received from law enforcement
As the stand against the Dakota Access continues in North Dakota, it is no surprise that some false stories would begin to spread. One of the latest rumors that seems to be truly upsetting people is that an 11-year-old girl was shot and killed by a police sniper during Thursday’s confrontation.
The video was posted to Youtube on October 28 by Pastor Bones has caused many to believe that a young girl was killed by police. As of now, there is no evidence from medical, law, or locals that this allegation is true.
Locals who have been at the camp know nothing of a young girl being killed, and also claim to have never seen the man in the video at the stand against the Dakota Access in North Dakota. In the video, the man says himself that he was going to go, but his car broke down.
So far, locals have confirmed that at least one horse had to be put down from injuries it obtained during clashes between law enforcement and water protectors.
So why would someone make a video claiming such a tragedy had occurred? That is something that can only be speculated unless the man himself decides to come forward with the answer to that question.
It is possible that it was just a mistake. Perhaps the man got a hold of some bad information and was so hurt he felt the need to speak his mind to the World Wide Web. That is not an uncommon response to tragedies these days.
A more nefarious scenario is that he created the story for views. Sadly, this is the world we live in, and this is something that happens all too often.
No matter what Pastor Bones’ reasoning was for making the video, it is safe to say that this rumor is false. Simply put, there is no way that an 11-year-old girl could be shot and killed by a police sniper with their being no witnesses. The family would be plastering this girl everywhere and this random man, who is not even in North Dakota, would most likely not be their representative.
